Dominicus' "Blast Beat Manifesto" of the Week...Where strides the BEHEMOTH?

EvangelionWhere Strides the BEHEMOTH? Does he stalk with grace? is his voice sweet with the tone of acute melody?

Ahh, But of course not. And that is why this week, I, Dominicus, "Slayer of Beats" "Archer of the Madness" brings you an Ariel Assault that will sear you limb from limb. This week's "Blast Beat Manifesto" Come's from BEHEMOTH's "Evangelion".

Where strides the BEHEMOTH? Underneath heavy guitars who's riffs Take a week of maddening aggression and roll it into the most beautifully evil correlation; Underneath some of the most amazing drum work that rivals the best of drummers; And underneath a vocal arrangement that at times undecipherable, yet so poetic. Its truly unique to find such an album that is both heavy and truly artistic at the same time.

Am I the world's largest BEHEMOTH fan? Certainly not. But After a long week of terrible terribleness in the land of Hotel's and stupid people. BEHEMOTH is a breath of fresh metal air. However, this album is not for the faint of metal heart. Gird up your loins and be prepared to fight. The Brutality is about to begin.

Scrotos' Daily Offering...."Painkiller" by Judas Priest

PainkillerI know so many Judas Priest fans that do not know the Painkiller album. It is usually the old ones in the "40 something" crowd. They rant and rave about British Steel, Sin After Sin, Screaming for Vengeance, etc. All classics in their own right but I must say that those "old school" fans may have missed the absolutely amazing Painkiller album. The under 40 crowd knows better!\m/! In my mind, this is hands down their finest offering. When they released this, they were supposedly "on their way out" or "past their prime." After "Turbo Lover," I can't say that the accusations were that far off! That being said, the mighty Priest came back, screaming for vengeance one more time in 1990 with this ultimate "beast in black." If you missed this baby 20 Years ago, fear not my Metal brethren....it is never too late to rock out with the Priest. This amazing song is about The Painkiller. The Painkiller himself is one of a series of fictional messiahs created by Judas Priest. He is described as a metal messiah sent to the world to destroy evil and rescue mankind from destruction. He is believed to be inspired by the fallen angel from the Sad Wings of Destiny album cover that Judas Priest recorded early in their musical years. The most excellent feature of the Painkiller, besides his metal body is that he rides the metal monster: a motorcycle with a dragon for the chassis and two circular saws for wheels \m/\m/\m/ I love this album with a passion. Rob Halford rules and this song is totally awesome. It has everything a metal masterpiece needs....face melting guitar solos, double bass mayhem and Rob screaming like a rapscallion Banshee. Love it....long time, one time \m/

Scrotos' Daily Offering; "Just a Little Sign" by Helloween

Here's what it is, people......Helloween totally rules! \m/ In recent Years, The World was given a little commercial tase of "Power Metal" in the form of Dragonforce (Through the Fire and the Flames - made famous by Guitar Hero). I have heard comments like, "those guys play so fast" or "them dudes are straight up shredders," etc. Dragonforce is cool (I guess) but there are so many warriors of extreme power metal that came long before the force of the almighty dragon of death. Helloween has been kickin' it old school since they emerged from the Power Metal Mecca (aka Duetschland) in the early 1980s. They helped invent the sub genre and remain quite prolific to this day, continually releasing quality material. Rabbit Don't Come Easy (2003) was indeed a fine offering and remains one of my favorite Helloween releases. Plus, Mikkey Dee (drummer for Motorhead) played drums on this magnum opus. Just a Little Sign was one of the prime cuts from the album. To be honest, I haven't listened to Helloween in a while and found this CD while cleaning my car (upon my Daughter's insistance). It would be nice if she cleaned her room when her Mother and I "insist" that she do it! I popped this dandy in my CD player and proceeded to rock out, one time long time. I'm glad I rediscovred Helloween because as proudly proclaimed earlier in this post. HELLOWEEN TOTALLY RULES!!!!\M/!!!!
