Scrotos' Daily Offering - "Slave to the Grind" by Skid Row

Slave to the GrindI know what you are thinking, my metal brethren..."Has Desmondo gone soft?"....."What's up with the hair metal?", etc. I will defend my love of Skid Row until the end of my days because them dudes rule!\m/! Unfortunately, their timing was not so good as they came on the scene in the late 80's as hair metal was being watered down and getting worse with each new new filthy little Ratt and Motely Crue clone to come along (Warrant, Slaughter, Winger, etc). While they may have dabbled in the cheese rock genre, musically these guys were much more powerful and viable than the majority of crapolla being spewed on the masses. Skid Row's self titled debut was a strong and dirty offering but probably overshadowed by the glorious "Appetite for Destruction", which came out a couple of Years before. Guns had already establised themselves as the "new" and "different" band. The Skids were wronged and ultimately relegated into the vast pool of Cheddar. They could have easily gone softer and more commercial with their Sophomore release, Slave to the Grind but no....they decided to blaze some eyebrows (Thanks Tyler) with some marvelous riffery.....Mucho monsterous badassedness! I saw them open for their good friends, Pantera on this tour and they did indeed rock my face off. Slave to the Grind is notable for being the first heavy metal album to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 and with good reason....it completely rules my life \m/\m/\m/
