Descend into that which is "The Blackening"

The BlackeningThrough out time, there always seems to be the one band that every one discredits, yet in reality every one knows that they have some talent. In the case of today, I am talking about the one, the only...Machine Head.

Machine Head have spent most of their days being the opening band for such bands as Pantera, Slipknot and the like with their albums "Burn My eyes" and "The More things Change..." ....then they turned gay and jumped into the Nu-Metal fire with "The Burning Red" and "SuperCharger" causing them to fade away like a bad nightmare long to be forgotten. The metal community and the bands that once supported them and allowed them to open for them even bailed and said they turned soft.....causing Robert Flynn and company to contemplate disbanding...

...Along came 2005 and Robert Flynn must have prayed to the Metal Gods because it was the year of "...Through the Ashes of Empires" This album destroyed all the Nu-Metal fusion they had created and brought low the gayness factor. Anyone who listen to the opening "Imperium" simply help but bang their head and chant to the madness. Then to slay you once more with the best ballad/ode to death I have ever heard on a metal album "Descend the Shades of Night."

But that was 2005...now its 2010 and if you haven't experienced that which is "The Blackening" then you, My Metal Friend, have missed out on one masterpiece of an album. From the ten minute opening opus to the ten minute closing opus this album will change your thoughts about this band. I will not lie to you...You will try not to like it. You will sit back and accuse them of ripping off Metallica, Iron Maiden, and even a little Trivium (of which we all know is half-gay anyway)...But when you find yourself singing along with these bodacious jams then you realize that everyone makes mistakes....and its time to forgive Machine Head and give them the credit that is due.

And how many bands have videos this cool?? Guitars that shred this much?? and just an over-all assault on the ears?? 8 tracks. 7o minutes. The Blackening.
